Working alongside our Director, Nathan Owen, our Operations Manager Damien Carrick has over 45 years of industry experience. He brings to the team a keen eye for detail and procedural accuracy, overseeing all projects from breaking ground to handover. Let’s take 5 with Damien and get to know him better!
Tell us about your role at OCON
I assist the Director in all facets of the build process, in constant coordination with Marie Ashworth our Project Administrator. I oversee and quality inspect all areas of the build from breaking ground to the handing over of the finished projects. This means I work closely with all our staff members, including the admin team, suppliers and contractors, to ensure the delivery of our projects remains fluid. I also ensure that we communicate regularly with our clients throughout the build process.
What drives your passion for building?
I love the industry, to be a part of the creation of a home from the beginning to completion is very rewarding. I enjoy the comradery with my co-workers, we are a close-knit team with a family vibe. It’s wonderful to sit back at the end of the job and take pride in our work.
What’s the most exciting project you are currently working on?
We have several exciting projects under construction at present. They all have their own special qualities. All builds are exciting because no two are the same.
What are you most proud of in your role at OCON?
The exciting direction that OCON is heading. We have increased our staff recently and I believe we have some of the best tradesman, along with our exceptional office staff. The future is bright, working for a high-quality dream home builder, leading the way in Hobart.
Do you have any pets?
No pets, however, I am called upon often to baby sit my daughters fur baby.
Do you have a hobby? What do you enjoy doing on your time off?
I play golf – albeit very badly. However, I will keep chasing that little white ball around. I enjoy sports, I enjoy seeing the thrill of battle.
What will you ask Santa for this year?
This might sound corny but, I’m excited to enjoy even more time with my two greatest achievements, Ben and Klaire. They have achieved so much to date, to say I am enormously proud is an understatement.
